The Real Church Hurt is a blog that gives a voice to people who have been hurt by the church. It is written by and for people who have been hurt by the church.
The lead editor of The Real Church Hurt is Nzuri Wordsmith. She is a woman who was raised in the church and educated in the study of scripture. She was taught that the church was a safe place, a place of love and acceptance. But she soon learned that the church could be a place of hurt and rejection. She has experienced firsthand the ways that the church can hurt its people and has endeavored to create a space where those hurts can be shared and healed.
The Real Church Hurt is open to submissions from anyone who has been hurt by the church. If you have a story to share, we want to hear it. We hope that by sharing our stories, we can begin to heal the wounds that the church has inflicted on us.
